IBM 5853-001, 2400 BPS Modem (Used)
The 5853 Modem is a standalone unit transmitting data, on the Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN) in full duplex mode, at the data rate of 0 to 300 bps in asynchronous mode and at the data rate of 1200 and 2400 bps in synchronous and asynchronous mode. Automatic dialing can be controlled from the Data Terminal Equipment (DTE) via the IBM, the Attention or the V.25 bis command sets. Compatibility with an 801-type autocall unit is also provided. This modem provides error checking and retransmission capability, using MNP** up to the level 3.
